Instructor Courses

There are some key differences between a Synthetic Flight Instructor (SFI) and a Type Rating Instructor (TRI).

A SFI teaches in a simulated environment, while a TRI teaches in an actual aircraft. The SFI focuses on teaching technical skills like operating cockpit displays, flight management systems, and other advanced flight systems. The TRI, on the other hand, focuses on teaching the intricacies of specific aircraft models and their unique systems. In addition, a SFI's certification extends across multiple aircraft types, whereas a TRI's certification is limited to one specific aircraft type. While both types of instructors play an important role in pilot training, the SFI is more versatile and cost-effective in providing training for multiple aircraft types. However, when it comes to specific aircraft models, the expertise of a TRI is necessary to teach pilots the nuances of that aircraft.

SFI/TRI course

At GATS we offer both TRI and SFI on A320, A330, A340, A350, B737, B747, B757/B767

These courses are aimed at anyone who is willing to pass his/her knowledge and experience on to the next generation of pilots on these Types.

The TRI license can be issued with full or restricted privileges (limited to instruction within a simulator or LIFUS | unrestricted with base training - circuit training on real Aircraft available at extra cost).

Upon completion of the SFI/TRI course, GATS may offer you the opportunity, to join our instructor’s team on a freelance basis.
